Does Instagram have a sense of humor?

With the unfortunate demise of Bibliogram, I decided to bite the bullet and sign up for an Instagram account. It was not an easy decision to make, but there are a few athletes I need to keep an eye on. I mean, for sports betting purposes.

However, after finishing the registration process, my account became immediately suspended upon logging into the service.

I didn’t have time to break any community guidelines, but I suspected the account might have been flagged for using a VPN service during registration.

I decided I wanted to try and disagree with the decision to suspend my account. I was able to get by the Instagram phone number verification, but for the final step, Instagram wanted me to upload a selfie.

Like any sensible person, I have no desire to share my likeness or any other personal data with Meta. However, Instead of abandoning the process altogether, I thought I would play an innocent little prank on whoever was going to review my suspension appeal.

The famous “Monkey-selfie” is, in my opinion, the best selfie the world has ever seen. I submitted the form as seen above and expected that my short time as an Instagram user had come to an end.

Appeal granted

Well, color me surprised Instagram granted my appeal. I was under the impression that a human would review the selfie, and if that’s the case, wow! I have so many questions. Should I be grateful or offended hehe?

Either way, It made my day a bit more amusing, and for that, I am thankful.
